Have you ever thought that metal scraps from unused vehicles would be used to make fantastic sculptures!!

Chennai Higher Secondary School in Bharathidasan Road in Thiruvanmiyur is making amazing news.

This school has sculptures made from metal scraps and the public would be allowed to come to this exhibition from 9am till 12pm and from 4pm to 8pm. The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday by Mr. G. Prakash corporation commissioner of Chennai and it would be till 5th March.

From Andhra Pradesh, 14 sculptures were invited and they have made many sculptures from metal scraps taken from unused vehicles. An amount of Rs 31 lakhs have been spent to make these amazing sculptures. People visiting this exhibition would be surprised by many sculptures of fishermen, mermaids, farmers etc. Mr. Prakash later spoke about how the GCC would be installing sculptures along the Buckingham Canal between Madhya Kailash to Thiruvanmiyur MRTS. He explained about how the initiative would create awareness of reusing waste and unwanted consumerism.

It must be taken into note that GCC earlier wanted to keep the sculptures at Elliot Beach in Besant Nagar but changed the plan after the Buckingham Canal project was finalised.  In TN, many frontline workers lost their lives in the fight against Covid-19 infection and GCC is also having plans to make sculptures of these frontline workers for honouring them.

It is superb to mention that all temporary conservancy workers who had lost their jobs due to privatisation of conservancy works would be provided with jobs. This was confirmed by Mr. G. Prakash
