From Today, there would be full - fledged suburban services in Chennai

Just like it was operating in the pre-Covid times, Southern Railways or SR would be operating full-fledged suburban trains in Chennai from today, 4th Jan 2020 to cater to the increasing passenger demands. To meet the increased demand and to maintain social distancing measures, the Chennai Division belonging to the SR would be running a total of 660 suburban trains in Chennai. These trains would be operated across all the 4 sections.
Important piece of information is that the common public would not be allowed to board the trains during the morning and in the evening peak hours. It is well known that the SR has been increasing the number of suburban train services in phases. From 28th of December, SR introduced the last additional services of 90 trains. With its headquarters in Chennai, the Southern Railways is the earliest of 18 zones belonging to the Indian Railways created after the independence.
