After making news for the wrong reasons in recent times, IIT-M is now making many heads turn for this superb reason.
The Confederation of Indian Industry or CII has presented Indian Institute of Technology of Madras or IIT-M with the `Most Innovative Institute of the Year` award for its disruptive innovations.
It is worth mentioning that this award is one of the categories in the CII Industrial Innovation Awards 2020. Recently, DST-CII Technology Summit took place virtually and at this summit the award was bestowed on IIT-M.
Various innovations recognised for the award:
Point is that the innovations recognised for this award include VITALSENS, a platform technology for wearable health monitoring device, a standing wheelchair for the differently able persons or Arise and India�s first indigenous microprocessor named Shakthi.
It was pointed out by Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, secretary, DST that the government and industry have realised that disruption to status quo could be beneficial.
