In the last one month, the active COVID cases have fallen by 63% in TN

On 20th October, the number of active Covid-19 cases was 36734 in Chennai. Now, after a month of time, the number of active cases is just 13404 in TN. Point is that in the last one month the active cases have fallen by 63%.
On Friday, 20th November, the state of TN reported 1688 fresh Coronavirus cases and as many as 18 persons passed away due to this infection.
In TN, till now, the total number of Coronavirus cases recorded stands at 766677 and the number of deaths stands at 11568.As many as2173 got discharged in the last 24 hours. The northern districts in TN have got more number of active cases and currently there are 7811 persons undergoing treatment for this deadly infection in those districts. It must be noted that in the 8 western districts in TN the active cases have gone below 3303. The state of TN reported as many as 3094 new cases on 20th October and on 20th September TN reported as many as5516 new cases.
The important piece of information is that the percentage of active cases has come down from 7.8perxcent in September to 1.7% in November. In the month of October it was 3.1percent.Truth is that the number of people tested has come down from 84338 in September to 78903 in October in the same days. As many as67309 persons underwent RT-PCR tests on Thursday in TN.
1.3lakhs test done per 1 million populations:
It was brought to light by the director of public health that TN has carried out 1.3lakhs tests per 1 million populations. He spoke about how the main objective was to track and test the people to isolate and initiate early treatment. By this, the recovery rates have increased.
It must be taken into account that the recovery rate in TN has crossed 96.7% and the case fatality rate was around 1.5percent. This was made possible by testing and early treatment. Fact is health teams have been working tirelessly even during the festival days and on the weekends.
Doubling time for cases and deaths, positivity rates, case fatality rates etc are epidemiological indicators and these have come down significantly.
