Divine flag-hoisting ceremony for the Deepam Festival at Thiruvannamalai

For the annual grand Deepam Festival, the Divine Flag-Hoisting Ceremony on the  64 feet High Golden Pillar was performed in the famous Thiruvannamalai Temple.

Due to the prevailing raging coronavirus pandemic, only a lesser number of devotees is allowed. The Tamil Nadu State Minister Sevur Ramachandran and the Thiruvannamalai District Collector Sandeep Sandhuri and other personnel participated in the divine flag-hoisting ceremony for the Grand Deepam Festival.

Deepam Festival is being celebrated for the duration of 10 days. The most prominent event of the festival, the lighting of the Maha Deepam will be performed on the 29th of November.

Bharani Deepam will be it inside the Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaeswarar Temple premises in the early morning at 4.00 PM. Maha Deepam will be lit on the top of the mountain at 6.00 PM.

Maha Deepam will be it on top of the 2668 feet high mountain.

DEVOTEES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED!

The devotees, who had registered online in advance, will ONLY be permitted to enter inside the temple.

The District Administration has banned the devotees climbing the mountain or undertaking the girivalam (a walk around the bottom of the temple).

It has been announced on behalf of the District Administration that the local pubic can show their ID proof and move around the city.
