Containment zones have been established once again in Chennai now and this has caught the attention of many now. It is well known that a month has gone after the lock down restrictions were removed in Chennai. There are 4 to 14 Covid-19 positive cases in 10 streets belonging to 4 zones of GCC. These zones are Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Alandur and Sholinganallur.

It is now revealed that these 10 streets in these zones have been marked as containment zones from 29th of September. Truth is that the GCC has been involved in regular Covid-19 works in these 4 zones according to the protocols. It must be recalled that just last month GCC removed containment zones and stopped barricading houses having Coronavirus positive cases.

The economic activity has led to an increase in the number of cases now. It is surprising to note that Alandur is the only zone that has reported less number of Coronavirus cases. As the workplaces have become Coronavirus clusters, the officials of the GCC have been focusing on these now more.

The officials also play their part in conducting tests at the markets by the GCC officials plus enforcing wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing in the public places.

Various containment zones in Chennai now are

Rukmani Street, Kirubashankar Street and Annamalai Nagar Third Street in Kodambakkam, Nolamburs Phase-1 17th Cross Extension, Adambakkams SurendraNagar 4th Street, Subhasri Nagar 4th street in Mugalivakkam, Nanganallurs Hindu Colony 1st street and Voltas Colony, Gandhi Nagar Kadai Kottaimedu and Periyar Neelankarai and Kuppam Neelankarai in Sholinganallur.
