Posted on: 29/Aug/2020 9:58:24 AM
There are now concerns regarding Coronavirus clusters at the workplaces in Chennai as many have returned back to their work.

It is known that the restrictions have eased and employees were allowed to return to their work spots. Over the past few days, the positivity rates have been on the rise among the workers of commercial establishments and this was according to GCC.

For the sake of reviving the economy, the TN government has made some relaxations in the e-passes. The Chennai Corporation commissioner, Mr. G. Prakash pointed out that the number of Coronavirus cases has been increasing and it was anticipated only. He added that steps have been taken to control the spread of Covid-19 infection.

As per Mr. J. Radhakrishnan, health secretary, they are not large clusters. He explained that they are smaller groups of people who have come to work and they have tested positive for the Coronavirus infection. He added that when people work in a closed environment then the chances of the infection spread was higher.

There has been a positivity rate of more than 30% in the tests carried out at many commercial establishments. It must be noted that on Friday, 20 out of total 60 employees tested Coronavirus positive in a commercial establishment at George Town. Last week, the positivity rates in the commercial establishments were 10% and the establishments were sealed.

According to an officer belonging to the Chennai Corporation, the establishments would be reopened after a few days and those workers tested negative would be permitted. He highlighted that the health experts would give assistance to the commercial establishments and advise them regarding the resumption of the operations.

Addressing the challenges at the workplaces would be given importance. Mr. Radhakrishnan concluded that the workers with symptoms would be encouraged to avail the government free testing facility.
