Having lunch or dinner with family and friends in a restaurant is an amazing experience!!

From March, the restaurants and hotels have been shut down in Chennai for the sake of containing the spread of Coronavirus infection. Now, these restaurants have resumed their business in full flow as many customers have started coming to these restaurants with their families and friends.

There has been an increase in the revenue by 40% now due to the customers. It must be noted that Chennai and its suburbs have around 8000 eateries with different seating capacities.

The dine-in services have resumed once again after the TN government gave a green signal and this has increased the footfalls in the restaurants in Chennai. Earlier, the dine-in services were stopped to contain Covid-19 infection. Fact is from 1st of August, the TN government had allowed eateries and restaurants to resume their dine-in services.

Before covid-19 infection broke out in Chennai, restaurants collectively reported a turnover of Rs 1250 crores. Information is this has touched Rs 500 crores now with takeaways and dine-ins accounting for more than 60percent. Currently, the eateries have been earning 40% revenue they earned pre-covid.

In the month of June, when some of the eateries and restaurants were re-opened in Chennai, not many came to these restaurants for food. Things have changed and now many want to enjoy having a cup of tea or snacks or food with their families and friends. Currently, more dine-ins and takeaways are there in many restaurants and this was as per some owners.

Now, in Chennai, the cinema halls, malls and other places for recreation have been closed and the only place for enjoyment is restaurants and eateries. This has made many visit the restaurants. Many young couples go to pizzas and burger joints in Chennai but formal restaurants have started hosting families.
