Posted on: 13/Aug/2020 2:35:31 PM
The festival of ‘Vinayaka Chathurthi’ is scheduled to be celebrated on 22nd August.

At the same time, the public is aware that both central and state governments have been undertaking various initiatives to prevent the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic which has caused a disastrous effect on the public, academic institutions, and industries.  As a part of the preventive measures against the spread, a public gathering in large numbers must not be allowed and the state and central governments are monitoring this.

As such, giving due consideration to the objective of preventing the spread of the raging coronavirus and giving due importance to the public welfare, the state government has banned setting up of Lord Vinayaka idols in public places or celebrating the festival with prayers on the idols as a public gathering or taking the idols of the Lord Vinayaka in a procession.

As above, it is emphasized that the citizens must celebrate the occasion of Vinayaka Charhurthi in their respective residences totally avoiding public gathering.

It is further emphasized that while venturing out for shopping to procure the various items for the festival celebration, the public MUST WEAR FACIAL MASKS AND STRICTLY OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING.

As the government has already permitted the opening of smaller temples and worship locations, the government once again emphasizes the need to follow the coronavirus prevention guidelines strictly. Further, the government emphasizes the need to wear face masks and observing social distancing while visiting the temples or prayer pots.
