Chief Minister inaugurates free distribution of face masks in Fair Price Shops

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palaniswamy inaugurate the distribution of the free face masks in Fair Price Shops today (Monday, 27th July).
Various preventive measures are being taken on a war-footing by the State Government of Tamil Nadu against the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic. As a part of these preventive activities, the Chief Minister had announced earlier that free face masks would be distributed to the public through Fair Price Shops. Accordingly, 2 free face masks per person are being distributed as mentioned in the family ration card.
These face masks can be washed and reused. The are being distributed free in all the Fair Price Shops throughout Tamil Nadu.
In a notification released by the State Government of Tamil Nadu in this regard, I`m the 1st Phase, these free face masks will be distributed in Fair Price Shops located in large city administrations, city administration corporations.
However, this plan will be executed in the Chennai Metro City by the Great Chennai Corporation only later. Except for Chennai Metro City, all other Tamil Nadu Citizens with family ration cards of 69.09 Lakhs Families, 4.44 Crores free face masks are to be distributed through the Fair Price Shops.
