Active Coronavirus cases in TN cross 50,000 for the first time

At the beginning of July month, the number of active Coronavirus cases was around 40,000. On Sunday the number of fresh Coronavirus positive cases touched 5,000 in TN. It is well known that for the past few days TN has been reporting 4,500 fresh cases daily. The number of active cases in TN has crossed 50,000 for the very first time. Till now, the number of persons who have passed away due to COVID-19 infection is 2,481 in TN.
On Sunday, the number of active cases rose to 26% to 50,294. It is worthy to note that the number of active cases hovered around 15,000 in Chennai in the last few days of time. That is down by 36% ever since the cases were at the beginning of July.
It must be taken into note that Chennai�s daily count of fresh COVID-19 cases also hovered around 1,200. The shocking piece of information is that the numbers in the neighboring districts like Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpattu have been on the rise. On Sunday, all the 3 districts recorded 931 cases together.
The Chennai Corporation commissioner Mr. Prakash mentioned that the positivity rate has come down to 5% to 8% in north Chennai zones of Tondiarpet and Royapuram.
