In the last 15 days, daily fresh Corona cases have come down in Chennai

In the Chennai city, intense lockdown plus increase in the number of testing has borne fruits now.
The number of fresh or new Covid-19 positive cases daily has reduced in Chennai in the last 15 days of time. On 30th June, Chennai had reported as many as 2393 fresh Coronavirus positive cases but n 14th July just 1078 fresh cases were reported. This was according to the periodic date from Chennai Corporation and from TN state government. It must be noted that barring a few days the number of fresh cases were reducing continuously.
On 7th July, the number of cases came down by more than 500 as 1216 fresh cases were reported in Chennai. Just the previous day, Chennai had as many as 1747 fresh cases. In the city of Chennai, overall as many as 79,662 cases were reported. From 3rd July till 14th July, GCC had tested more than 1.15 lakhs samples and especially on 4th July GCC had tested 11,144 samples.
Information gathered is that as many as 16,940 persons were identified as Coronavirus positive in this time period and this was only 14% positivity rate. The recovery rate of 79% was present in Chennai city as on Wednesday morning. Fact is 62,552 persons have recovered from this infection. On Wednesday, in Chennai city, there were 15,814 persons who were still under treatment.
Mr. J. Radhakrishnan, state health secretary, explained that the improvement in Chennai was due to the fever camps organised by GCC. These camps have helped in identifying Covid-19 positive cases and prevented further spreading.
He revealed that the number of testing has been increased across TN and TN has been 42000 to 45000 samples every day. Mr. G. Prakash, Chennai Corporation commissioner was happy regarding the decrease in the cases but warned the Chennai residents about complacency.
