Notification from the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palaniswamy

The State Government of Tami Nadu, under the able guidance of the Honourable Chief Minister, E. Palaniswamy has been working tirelessly to initiate and implement all required actions against the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic and protecting the people of Tamil Nadu!
Since the Central Government imposed Lockdown on 25th March, the state government of Tamil Nadu also implemented lockdown in the state.
Subsequently, giving due consideration to the impact/intensity of the spread of the coronavirus and also the lifeline of the citizens, the lockdown was ordered to continue until 31st July with a few relaxations.
�However, I ordered 100% lockdown in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Metro Police until 5th July. Presently, in other words, until the new orders are announced after 6th July, the following restrictions are to be strictly implemented in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Metro Police:
- In the hotels/restaurants/food shops operating in the areas under the jurisdiction of Chennai Metro Police, only parcel services will be allowed from 6.00 AM to 9.00 PM. The staff doing the parceling/distribution of food items MUST WEAR their identity badge given by their employers.
- Tea shops - with only parcels allowed - will be allowed to function from 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM.
- Vegetable and grocery shops will be allowed to function from 6.00 AM to 6.00 PM.
- Except for the commercial complexes (malls, etc.), all other showrooms, the larger shops (jewelry, textile, etc.), can function from 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM strictly following the guidelines already given.
I have ordered that the other activities can function with the strict following of the guidelines and relaxations given as before 19th June for the areas under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Metro Police.
I appeal the public to extend their whole-hearted cooperation with the initiatives taken and being implemented by the State Government of Tamil Nadu.�
