More pregnant women getting affected with Coronavirus infection in Chennai

In Chennai, there are 2 major hospitals for pregnant women and they are IOG or Institute for Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Government Hospital for Women and Children Egmore and KGH or Kasturba Gandhi Hospital for Women and Children, Triplicane. These two hospitals of Chennai have recorded as many as 523 Coronavirus positive pregnant women. Shocking isn�t it!!
The officials have explained that after treating Covid-19 pregnant women since April 2020 IOG is involved in the study to check on mother to child transmission of SARSCoV-2.
In Chennai, the largest maternity centre is Government RSRM hospital of Royapuram. The details of the patients of this hospital could not be obtained. There remains a constant flow of Coronavirus positive pregnant women. This was according to the doctors belonging to IOG and KGH. At IOG, the cumulative number was 294 and at KGH the number was 229. At IOG, many pregnant women came from Pulianthope and also from Saidapet.
A senior doctor of IOG expressed his thoughts. He explained about how atleast 20% of the patients had co-morbid conditions like BP, Diabetes plus high risk pregnancies etc and how all have recovered. There have been zero maternal deaths due to the Coronavirus issue.
For the treatment of Covid-19 patients, there are separate wards with 100 beds plus separate teams of doctors, nurses and hospital workers etc. On 28th April, IOG received its first Coronavirus pregnant patient and currently there are 38 women in admission. Important information is out of 100 deliveries atleast 10 babies tested Coronavirus positive but remained asymptomatic.
