Containment zones now reduced by the Corporation of Chennai

On Thursday, 18th June, GCC reduced the number of containment zones to just 64. This has been done inspite of many Coronavirus fresh positive cases getting reported in the Chennai city. There are now 24 containment zones in Tondiarpet zone and as many as15 in Kodambakkam zone.
Among the 15 zones belonging to GCC Royapuram zone has got the highest number of Coronavirus positive cases is a known fact. This Royapuram zone now has just 3 containment zones. Another important zone is Thiru- Vi- Ka Nagar and here there are just 3 containment zones now.
It is worth mentioning here that zones like Tiruvottriyur, Manali,Madhavaram, Valasaravakkam, Alandur and Adyuar do not have even a single containment zone. As a part of the cluster containment plan, areas as well as streets are being converted.
For the sake of checking the oxygen levels of the Chennai residents, survey workers and field level officials would be given oxy meters. It was later brought out by a release from the Chennai Corporation that as many as 1000 IR scanners plus 1000 pulse oximeters have been distributed to the workers belonging to Thiru- Vi- Ka Naga, Tondiarpet and Royapuram zones. He hinted that these two devices would also be given to workers belonging to other zones in Chennai.
