Out of a total of 15 zones belonging to GCC, as many as 10 zones have reported more than 1000 Coronavirus positive cases now.
The number of positive cases in the Royapuram zone has now gone above 5000 creating fears among the residents. Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC has deployed 61 mobile medical units for Coronavirus containment activities in Chennai. Fever camps would be conducted by these mobile medical units plus they would also provide assistance to those in home isolation.
On Sunday, 14th June, the residents belonging to the 6 zones like Royapuram, Tondiarpet, Thiru Vi-Ka Nagar, Kodambakkam Anna Nagar, and Teynampet, etc received the services of 6 mobile medical units. It must be noted that on Sunday the GCC conducted as many as203 fever camps and as many as 10541 persons have been screened. Information is 392 persons have been diagnosed with influenza-like illness or ILL.
The added areas belonging to GCC and suburbs like Tambaram etc have reported more positive cases. As a result, the number of mobile medical units allotted to Royapuram and Tondiarpet has witnessed reduction.
The number of Coronavirus cases has been analyzed by public health experts in the last 14 days. The recommendation of more mobile medical units to added areas like Tiruvottiyur and local bodies in suburban areas of Chennai has been done by these health experts. In the last 14 days, as many as 640 Coronavirus positive cases were reported in the added area like Tiruvottiyur. The rise in the number of cases has made the traders restrict the timings of their shops.
Many residents belonging to the Royapuram zone have requested GCC to send more mobile medical units to their zone. It was later mentioned by a resident of Royapuram that at least 20 medical units have been requested by the residents.
