In Chennai, as per the NEW RULE, persons undergoing Corona virus test and their family members to be quarantined

For the purpose of containing Corona virus infection GCC would be following this NEW rule hereafter.
On Thursday, GCC had announced that persons undergoing Covid-19 tests and their family members would be quarantined for a time of 14 days even if their samples tested negative. This decision was taken after a meeting with the representatives of the testing labs.
It must be noted that GCC had given directions to the testing labs to collect information of all persons taking the tests and later upload this to an exclusive smartphone application.
As per the statement from the corporation it was clear that the 18 private and 12 public labs in Chennai city must collect the details of the contacts of those undergoing the testing. Then the details must be sent to the civic body immediately. Effective management of the Corona virus infection is important and that was the reason for the new rule from GCC.
This was mentioned by the Chennai Corporation commissioner Mr G. Prakash. He added that containing the Corona spread to the best possible extent is important.
It was later explained by a senior official belonging to GCC that many come for testing only after finding some symptoms regarding Coronavirus infection. Keeping an eye on those who undergo testing is important. For the sake of monitoring the quarantined persons, the civic body would appoint volunteers for every 15 houses in the Chennai city.
Medical experts have expressed their opinion about quarantining all those who undergo Covid-19 testing. They were of the view that this move would discourage the public to undergo volunteer tests.
According to a senior officer belonging to the state health department, people would not visit the testing labs if GCC simply quarantines them just for testing. This might lead to hypoxia in the asymptomatic patients if they test Corona virus positive.
