Number of containment zones in Chennai now is 360 says GCC

Greater Chennai Corporation has increased the number of containment zones in Chennai city and it is now 360. This was done because of the increase in the Corona virus positive cases in Chennai city.
As on Thursday, 11th June 2020, there are as many as 360 containment zones in Chennai. This has been brought out by the Chennai Corporation.
It is known that GCC had already decided to seal down only the infected households instead of the entire street. Point is due to this most of the 360 containment zones are individual houses or buildings. It must be remembered that in the past GCC had notified just 202 streets as containment zones. There were as many as 1300 containment zones in Chennai city just a few weeks back. The containment time period was reduced from the 28 days to 14 days.
The restrictions would be lifted if no new Coronavirus positive cases get reported in the containment zones. There are 78 containment zones in the Royapuram zone in Chennai. More than 4000 positive cases have been reported from Royapuram zone. Information is Kodambakkam zone has got as many as 73 containment zones. Thiru-Vi-K Nagar has 54 containment zones and Perungudi has 28 containment zones.
