Burden to increase for the consumers- More increase in the petrol prices soon

Posted on: 10/Jun/2020 10:53:59 AM
In the last 3 days, the motorists have been finding it difficult as they have to pay an additional Rs 1.50 for fuel.  The daily pricing mechanism has begun now and is creating issues.

Beginning from 7th June 2020, the oil companies have begun the daily pricing of fuel and these companies have been increasing the fuel by around 50 paise daily. On 4th May 2020, the TN state government had increased VAT and due to this, the consumers have been paying an additional Rs 3.25 on petrol and Rs 2.50 on diesel. The truth here is petrol vehicle users have been paying Rs 5 extra and diesel vehicles users Rs 4 more than what they were paying since 16th March 2020. On this day, the daily pricing of fuel was stopped.

The daily hikes would be going up by atleast Rs 5 per liter and this would create a huge burden for many motorists. This was according to some industrial sources. It is important to note that the effect of the hike in diesel prices was already felt in the retail sector and by the consumers. The hike in the prices of goods has confirmed this.

An owner of an organic outlet in Chennai spoke about how the last of the bus services in Chennai has caused lots of issues to him as he has been depending on the trucks to get goods. This has led him to spend an extra amount of Rs 3000 for transportation.

Middle, as well as lower-class people, would be more affected by the increase of the fuel rates. This was as per a Mylapore based resident. He explained how the Coronavirus issue would result in many people losing their well-paid jobs or salary cuts etc. He threw light on how in the current scenario increase in the fuel prices would make things more difficult.

Today (10.06.2020) Petrol Price:77.43 and Diesel Price: 70.13
