In the wake of Corona virus infection, Chennai airport is having plans to bring in touch free experience for the passengers.
For making most procedures touch free inside the airport, the AAI or Airport Authority of India has been making arrangements.
In the past, the usual procedure would be handing over the ticket copies and identity proof to the Central Industrial Security Force Staff.
Now, this procedure has been changed totally. The passengers would have to sit inside a glass booth with camera and LED screens outside the terminal gates. The documents must be shown to the camera and once the staff inside approves the passenger could enter the terminal. This was as per the sources.
To prevent the airline staffs in coming into contact with the passengers, all check-in counters have been wrapped with glass panels with a small window in the front. It is now said that there might be some changes in the procedure of airline staffs issuing boarding passes to the passengers. For the sake of maintaining physical distancing, AAI has got plans to use alternative check-in counters.
From behind the glass pane, the airline staff would inspect the ticket copy and identity proof and in the next counter machine issuing boarding passes would be available. It must be noted that the passengers could collect their passes once the details were keyed to the system.
Safety of both passengers as well as the airline staffs is important and in the coming weeks there would be more plans that would be put in place.
