NEET on 26th July - Entrance Exam date for engineering courses also announced!

NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test), for admission to the medical graduate courses, is scheduled to be conducted on 26th July.

The date for the entrance examination for admission to the engineering colleges has also been announced.

As lockdown is imposed throughout the country as a preventive measure against the raging coronavirus pandemic, all the universities, colleges, and schools have remained closed from 16th March!

Due to this, NEET (pass in which is mandatory for admission to MBBS and BDS), which was earlier scheduled to be conducted on 3rd May, has been postponed by the National Testing Agency under the Central Ministry of Human Welfare and Development.

Similarly, JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) for admission to engineering graduate courses in Gvernment-aided High technology Educational Institutes such as IIT and Nit, was also postponed.

Subsequently, NTA (National Testing Agency) gave the opportunity to candidates to change their exam centres.

More than 15 lakhs students have applied for writing NEET this year!

Over 9 lakhs candidates have applied for writing JEE this year.

Those who are successful in JEE will be allowed to write the JEE (Advanced Test).

In this scenario, The Central Minister for Human Welfare and Development Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that NEET is scheduled to be conducted on 26th July. He announced this during the online sessions he had with the students.

He further announced that JEE (Main) is scheduled to be conducted from 18th May to 23d May. JEE (advanced) will be conducted in August.

Examinations for some of the subjects have not been conducted for the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) for the 10th and 12th Standards.

The Minister informed that the dates for the 12th Standard examinations will be announced in 2 days.

The minister further shared:
As per the recommendation made during the joint meeting with UGC (University Grants Commission) the semester examinations may be conducted from 1st July to 31st July.

In case the lockdown imposition is constrained to be continued if the spread of the coronavirus is not controlled, the students can be given marks of a total 100 � 50 from the scores of internal assessment and 50 from the marks obtained in the previous semester.

The Universities and colleges will reopen on 1st August. For the students of new admission, classes will commence on 1st September.

The admission for the graduate and postgraduate courses for the academic year 2020-21 will be completed before 31st August.

The minister added that the course fees will not be revised in IIT, IIIT, and NIT students for the academic year 2020-21.
