Tamilnadu Government: Rs. 500 worth FREE groceries!

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has informed the Chennai High Court that all cadres of the public will be given essential items worth Rs. 500 even without the ration cards!
A petition was filed to distribute Rs. 500 worth essential items (19 items) to even those without ration cards during the lockdown imposition period. Another appeal was made that as there would be lots of crowds at the ration shops making it difficult to maintain social distance, the arrangement must be made to deliver the same at the residences.
The enquiry for this petition was done on video conference mode and it was informed on behalf of the State Government of Tamil Nadu that in order to receive the Rs. 500 worth essential items, ration card, or identity proof will not be asked.
Subsequently, this petition was dismissed.
