The central government has enacted an emergency law to enable a sentence of 7 years imprisonment when attacking doctors and other health workers.

The Central Minister Prakash Javedkar informed that once approved by the president, it will be implemented as a Law.

In recent times, there have been attacks by the elements on the doctors, nurses, and ambulance staff engaged in the coronavirus prevention work. Doctors and nurses working in a Delhi hospital were attacked by a crowd of people. The doctors registered a complaint on this.

In the Moradabad District in Uttar Pradesh, when the doctors and the ambulance staff visited the house of a patient affected by coronavirus to take the relatives to the hospital, they were attacked. The doctors were injured.

In Chennai, some parts of the public protested against burying the dead bodies of the doctors who died due to coronavirus infection while working for treatment.

Police have registered a complaint against them and the case is being enquired.

The Central Government has warned that stringent and immediate action will be taken on those who attack doctors.

In this situation, the central government has brought up an emergency Law to enable imprisonment for those who attack doctors for a period of 6 months to 7 years.

The Central Minister Prakash Javedkar shared in this regard:

In case persons attack doctors and injure them seriously, the criminal will be given a sentence of imprisonment for 6 months to 7 years, and a penalty of Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 5 Lakhs will also be levied.

The Health Department personnel are striving to treat the patients attacked by the coronavirus and thus protecting the nation from the disease. Unexpected attacks are made on them. This is not at all acceptable.

In order to prevent this heinous activity, an emergency Law is being passed. This would be implemented immediately after the presidents approval.

In a similar way, an emergency act was made in the year 1897 on the infectious disease Law. Attack on Health Department personnel is a non-boilable offense! The enquiry will be completed in 30 days.
