By next week, rural, cottage industries could feel relieved

In the current week, the production of jaggery, cooking oil, match sticks, palm products, pottery, crackers and handicrafts would pick up slowly. This was according to an official who is part of state expert committee monitoring the lock down measures.
The traders have now begun procuring raw materials and it is now brought out that rural and cottage industries present outside Covid-19 containment zones in TN could slowly start breathing by next week. It must be noted that many industrialists want the lock down to continue till Corona virus infection gets controlled. Fact is most of the rural industries have been associated with agriculture, horticulture, agro-forestry, handicrafts and livestock sector.
It was brought to light by an official that for the above said industries necessary clearances have been issued and agriculture department is actively serving the farmers and rural industries. He explained about the lack of instant food mixes like jams, pickles sweet mixers, juice essence and how the production has been stopped due to lock down.
As per a wholesale trader dealing with processed foods, the traders associated with the above said products must be allowed so that the food item would be available when the lock down is removed.
