Draft voters list for local elections releases on 20th March: final polling booth list draft on 6th March!

The final draft voters’ list for the urban local elections is scheduled to be released on 20th March and the final polling booth list on 6th March.
The local elections for the administrative bodies were conducted in 27 districts of Tamil Nadu in 2 Phases.
Subsequently, the election commission is presently engaged in making the arrangements for conducting the local administration elections for the newly created 9 districts.
A draft voters’ list was prepared for this purpose based on the final voters’ list released by the Indian Election Commission on 14th February. This voters’ list displayed for the public from 27th February.
In this scenario, an All-Party meeting was conducted at Chennai Ripon Building regarding the voters’ list yesterday (Monday, 2nd March).
Assistant Commissioner Kumaravel clarified during this meeting that so far 61 objections were received and they have all been corrected. Further, he emphasised that the political parties must submit their complaints, if any, before the end of today (Tuesday, 3rd March). These objections will be reviewed and the final voters’ list will be released on 6th March. This will be distributed to all political parties.
Subsequently, the task of compiling the voters’ list for the local elections will be taken up from 7th March to 19th March.
This draft voters’ list will be released in the presence of the representatives of all political parties.
