A hotter period in January after a gap of 100 years!

Based on the statistics for the month of January, IMD has informed that January 2020 was the hottest month after the year 1919!

IMD has the archive data of weather records right from the year 1901! The average minimum temperature in January in India is 20.59 Degree Celsius. However, during January 2020, it was 21.92 Degree Celsius. This is higher by 1.33 degrees as compared to the average.

The minimum temperature was 22.13 Degrees in January 1919 after which it has reached this level only in January 2020. In 1901, it was higher by 1.23 degree Celsius, in 1906, 1 degree Celsius and in 1938, it was 1.05 Degrees Celsius higher as per IMD records.

When comparing the maximum temperatures in the month of January, in January 2020, it was 30.72 Degree Celsius (average 30 Degree Celsius), in 2016, it was higher by 1.16 Degree Celsius and in 2013, it was higher by 0,95 Degree Celsius.
