Chennai-Yaazhppanam flight service commenced!

The flight service between Chennai Metro City and Sri Lanka Yaazhppaanam (Jaffna) commenced yesterday (Monday, 11th November). The first flight took off with 12 passengers. The flight services would be thrice a week.
As large numbers of Tamilians reside in Jaffna or Yaazhppaanam in Sri Lanka, there was a regular flight service by Air India from Chennai. However, due to the intensification of the internal war in Sri Lanka, this flight service was stopped.
As the war is over and peace has returned. There was a heavy demand that the flight services must be resumed. However, the Palali airport in Jaffna was heavily damaged due to the internal war. Hence, there was a delay in resuming flight services.
In fact, there were no flight services Chennai-Jaffna over the last 41 years.
Presently, the international airport at Jaffna (Yaazhppaanam) has been renovated and initiatives were taken to resume flight services.
Subsequently, the flight service by Air Indias Alliance Flight service organized a trial flight on 17th October.
As such, the flight services commenced yesterday (Monday, 11th November) between Chennai and Jaffna. This flight services would be thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from the Chennai Metro City international airport.
Thus, the 1st flight commenced yesterday at 10.35 AM with 12 passengers and reached Jaffna at 12.00 noon.
Later, the flight took off at 12.45 PM with 35 passengers to Chennai and reached by 2.10 PM.
The passengers on this 1st flight service were presented with bouquets.
The flight fare from Chennai to Jaffna is Rs. 3990. The fare for the flight from Jaffna to Chennai is Rs. 3190.
