Tuesday’s Google Doodle commemorates the 160th anniversary of the first Indian passenger train journey. The doodle is on Google’s Indian homepage and shows a locomotive in place of Google’s first O.
India’s first passenger train journey was from Bori Bunder in Bombay (now Mumbai) to Thane. It took place on 16th April, 1853. The train was led by three locomotives – Sahib, Sindh and Sultan. The journey covered 34 kilometres in 21 minutes.
