Substantial reduction in Mechanical Engineering faculty
There has been a steep reduction in the number of candidates opting for mechanical engineering faculty as compared to the previous year.

There have been substantial reductions in the number of students opting for civil, electrical, electronics, aeronautical and instrumentation engineering faculties.

On the other hand, there has been a good increase in the number of candidates opting for the faculties of Computer Science, telecommunication Engineering and Information Technology.

Functioning of 110 colleges rendered difficult
With the above trend and statistics, the educationists observe that it would be extremely difficult for 110 engineering colleges to continue functioning where there has been a huge reduction in the number of students joining.  Further, there has been a very steep reduction in the number of candidates opting for the faculty of mechanical engineering.

Thus, the academicians observe that there are prospects where the professors/lecturers in the Department of Mechanical Engineering are likely to lose their jobs.
