In the state of Tamil Nadu, those families having their members missing could feel relieved now. It is now revealed that SCRB or State Crime records Bureau would be coming out with a mobile application to help police personnel to trace the missing persons plus in identifying anti-social elements in TN.
It is well known that SCRBs database has got details of the offenders as well as many missing persons. It is brought out that this new mobile app would be connected to this database. The important information collected is once the police personnel who is on the night rounds clicks the picture of the suspicious person on the mobile phone then the application would collect details from the database and it would appear on the screen of the officers mobile phone. The police officer need not have to search through the database to get details if the person is a missing one or an offender. The main advantage of this app is it would save huge amounts of time. It must be noted that the missing persons could also be traced easily throughout the state of TN.
In the last 10 years of time more than 1lakh persons have gone missing in TN and out of one lakh 90% of missing persons have been traced successfully. It is superb to note that SCRB has been responsible for reuniting more 200 persons and this includes more than 150 persons from other states as well. It was pointed out by an inspector A.S. Thahira belonging to SCRB that the initiative was launched by none other than Seema Agarwal, ADGP, SCRB.
She then spoke about how her department calls various NGOs to check for the missing persons and then coordinate with the respective police station after confirming the person�s hometown. The shocking piece of information revealed was most of the missing persons were mentally challenged ones. Inspector A.S. Thahira later threw light on how most of the persons reunited were from states such as Bihar, UP, MP, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand etc. It is important t mention that there were some cases where their own family members have forced mentally challenged persons into the lorries over property issues and dropped them off in Andhra Pradesh- TN border.
She finally explained about how the migrant labourers suffered head injuries and how some of them had memory related issues in them. The point is the age group of these persons are between 20 and 75 years.
