Rise in elector population ratio in the constituencies of Chennai

The latest news is there has been a rise in the elector population ratio in the constituencies and this has been confirmed by the Chennai District Election Office. This news comes at a time when many people have complained about their names missing on the electoral rolls.

As per an official it is clear that district has got the elector population ratio of 78% that is highest in the state on TN. To assess the impact of deletion and inclusion in the rolls, the ratio of electors for a given population is calculated before the polls are known.

As per the 2019 projections, Chennai district has got a population of 49.59 lakhs. It has included 38.66 lakh electors on the rolls so far following in an increase in more than 70,000 in the last few weeks. The important information that has come out is T. Nagar has reported highest number of electors for a given population. It must be noted that the elector population ratio of T. Nagar is 87.

In the areas that have an estimated population of 138,845 men and 137,843 women, as many as 2.31 lakh electors have been enrolled. As per the data compiled by the Chennai District Election Office, the elector population ratio for men in the area is 85.38, for women it is 88.40.

The surprising piece of news is Harbour Assembly segment has got the lowest elector population ratio. The reasons for the dip in the ratio are not clear and Chennai District Election Office has started to study the reasons for this dip. Information got is Harbour assembly has got the lowest ratio of 66. Point to be noted is the ratio of men in the area is 65.04 and women in the area is 66.49. There are as many as 2.56 lakh people present in this Harbour Assembly with just 1.68 lakh electors.

In Harbour Assembly, the number of men voters is higher than women voters. This is totally different from all other Assembly segments where the number of women voters is more than men voters.

There are many places in Chennai and the elector population ratio in these places is revealed now. For Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar the ratio is 80, for Perumbur the ratio is 77, 84 in Kolathur, 86 in Villivakkam, 76 in Thiru-Vi-Ka-Nagar, 70 in Egmore, 68 in Royapuram, 66 in Harbour, 76 in Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni, 74 in Thousand Lights, 83 in Anna Nagar, 80 in Virugambakkam, 81 in Saidapet, 87 in Mylapore and 74 in Velacherry.
