Karunanidhi demands package for non-delta farmers

DMK Chief M. Karunanidhi said that he hoped to see the government come up with a comprehensive package for farmers in non-Delta areas of the State during the State budget on March 21st.
Mr. Karunanidhi said that the Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa had announced Rs. 15,000 per acre as compensation for Cauvery delta farmers but had ignored the farmers from other areas. He asked what the government would offer to those who were suffering due to lack of water.
In a statement, Mr. Karunanidhi said, What is the situation of those who had suffered crop-losses in districts other than the Cauvery delta? What is the outcome of a panel which had toured these areas to survey crop damage?
