Low frequency of mini buses is troubling many Chennai residents

In the year 2013 when mini buses were introduced in Chennai city they became the talk of the town. Many people use these 27 seater minibuses to reach their places as these buses are easily available, cheap and highly convenient.
In the recent times the frequency of mini buses has reduced and the commuters started to complain about this issue. The important point is low frequency of mini buses is a complaint raised by residents of almost all the places including interior places like Avadi, Ambattur, Saidapet, Adambakkam, Velachery and also from places beyond Tambaram etc. Considered as an alternative to share autos and vans, these mini buses were highly sought after by the residents in Chennai.
Now it is revealed that the commuters have once again started using share autos to reach their places. It was informed by a resident belonging to Avadi that in the initial stages share autos from suburbs to bus stops charged Rs 10 and the mini buses charged Rs 9.
The low frequency of mini buses had created more demand for the share autos now and these share autos demand Rs 15 for the above mentioned trip. This has created more issues for the commuters now. Another Chennai resident belonging to Nanganallur explained about how he had to wait for long time to get the mini bus from Nanganallur to go to his office located in Velachery. The shocking piece of information is these small or mini buses are now being operated once in two hours, three hours or in four hours and this was confirmed by the commuters.
The resident of Nanganallur then spoke about how initially there were mini buses for every 30 minutes of time and how the frequency of these buses have reduced to such an extent that there are no mini buses in the afternoon time. It was brought out that because of the low frequency of these mini buses the commuters were forced to change the buses to reach their places of destination. As a result of this bus changing more money is now spent by the commuters plus there is increase in their travel time also.
