On Thursday, 31st January 2019, the final revised electoral rolls were released. It is now revealed that Tamil Nadu has got 5.91 crores voters and out of this 2.98 crores were women voters and 2.92 crore were men voters. It is important to mention here that TN has got as many as 5472 transsexual voters. The truth is there are 1020 women voters for every 1000 men voters in the state of Tamil Nadu. The point to be noted is women voters have increased by 11 % in the last 5 years of time whereas men voters have increased by 8.5 % only.

It must not be forgotten that in the 2014 LS polls, 3 southern states like Kerala, TN and AP had women voters more or less equal to men voters. The state of Karnataka had poor voter sex ratio in the 2011 polls is known. The important piece of information collected was in other parts of India only Arunachal Pradesh had better voter sex ratio 5 years back and all big states had more men voters than women voters. In TN when compared to 2014 Lok Sabha (5.51cr) and 2016 assembly elections (5.77cr), the electorate is longer this time. The point is more than 82% of Tamil Nadu population has got voting rights now.

It has been revealed that out of total 32 districts in TN 27 districts have got more women voters than men voters. Districts like Salem, Dharmapuri, Kanyakumari and Krishnagiri have got more men voters than women voters. It is superb to note that Chennai district has got maximum voters and that is 38.18 lakhs voters. There are 19.34 lakhs women voters in Chennai district. The district of Kancheepuram has got second highest voter strength of 36.9 lakh voters.

The important piece of information is Chennai Harbour has got 1.66 lakh voters and has the lowest voter strength whereas Sholinganallur constituency on the IT highway has got as many as 6.18 lakh voters and that is the maximum voter strength. As per the state chief electoral officer, Satyabrata Sahoo, voter data based on LS constituencies and assembly constituencies would be released in the coming days.
