Booking for Deepavali travel can be done today and tomorrow

The officials of the SETC have informed that the booking for the government express buses for those who are travvelling for Deepavali festival on 3rd and 4th November has started from today. The officials informed that the booking can be done today and tomorrow (4th and 5th September).

Around 1000 express buses are being operated daily on behalf of the State Express Transport Corporation from Chennai, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tirupathi, and Bangalore. Apart from this, over 800 express buses belonging to the Transport Corporations of Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, Salem, and Kumbakonam are being operated to Chennai.

Naturally, more express buses and deluxe buses are being operated on festival days as compared to the ordinary days. Besides, special deluxe buses with berth, air-conditioning, and toilet facilities have been recently added to the fleet. This year (2018), Deepavali falls on 6th November, Tuesday). For the travellers who are planning to visit their native places on Deepavali, the booking facility for the government expresses buses has started from yesterday (3rd September).

On enquiring about this to the officials of SETC, they explained that there is a facility to book for the government express buses 60 days in advance. Accordingly, the passengers who plan to travel to their native places for the occasion of Deepavali festival can book the tickets for the government express buses.

Some passengers who plan to travel on 2nd November had booked their tickets yesterday, Further, the passengers who plan to travel on 3rd and 4th November may book their tickets today (4th September) and tomorrow (5th September).

For booking the tickets for the express buses for a travel of over 300 km in the government express buses, there are 125 booking centres throughout Tamil Nadu.

Out of this, there are 19 booking centres in Chennai including Koyambedu, T Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, and Tambaram.

Apart from this, the booking can be done online as well. The website - www.tnstc.in.

The State government of Tamil Nadu had decided to provide 2000 new buses to the various Transport Corporations. Accordingly, a total of 550 deluxe buses with A/c and toilet facilities have been given.

For the State Express Transport Corporation, 60 deluxe buses with A/c and berth facility are being provided.

Accordingly, the officials of SETC informed that 1450 new buses are to be operated for the occasion of the Deepavali festival.
