Hundreds of women rally on the Marina Beach

Hundreds of women students from Chennai`s colleges took part in a rally on the Marina Beach on yesterday, to create awareness on women`s issues.
Among the programmes held in the run up to the rally on the beach were a photography contest, a documentary competition, debates, workshops and panel discussion centred around the theme of women`s rights and safety.
The rally also saw participation from students of other colleges given the shared cause. Filmmaker Shylaja Chetlur, actors Janaki Sabesh, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan and Rajie Vijay Sarathy were among those who took part in the early morning rally.
