New bridges to be built in few places in Chennai to ease traffic congestion

Traffic congestion and Chennai city are inseparable is well known to us. This traffic congestion has been creating many issues for the public and many efforts are taken by the government to ease the traffic congestion.   

The latest news that has come out is bridges would be constructed in certain places in the city of Chennai to ease the traffic congestion. These upcoming bridges would also play superb part in reducing flood woes. It is said that this would be giving boost to the road infrastructure in the city of Chennai. This is now spoken by many in high esteem.

On Monday, 4th June 2018, in the assembly minister for municipal administration and rural development, Mr. S.P. Velumani grabbed many eyeballs. He spoke about how 3 new bridges would be constructed in places like Amullaivayal, Vadaperumbakkam and Burma Nagar and how an amount of Rs 44.25 crores would be spent for the purpose of building these bridges.

The sub paths in these above mentioned 3 areas are prone to be flooded during the monsoon season is known.  These upcoming bridges would reduce the misery of the people during the monsoon time. Elephant gate in Chennai is another main place and a new bridge would be built in this place also and the existing damaged bridge would be replaced by this new bridge.

An amount of Rs 30 crores would be used to build the new bridge between Central and Basin bridge stations and this was confirmed by the minister Mr. S.P. Velumani.

In the same manner a new bridge would be making its presence felt in Otteri in Chennai city and an amount of Rs 67.76 crores would be spent on this. This new bridge would replace the present bridge across Otteri canal. This bridge would connect Cooks Road with Dr. Ambedkar Road.

A project of worth Rs 30 crore was also announced and it involves constructing a retaining wall plus strengthening stormwater structure between Medavakkam Road and Otteri Bridge on Konnur high road. This project is aimed to address flood woes. By this project flooding at Ehangipuram canal would be averted.
