The Madras High Court will pass an order on the ban on Vishwaroopam today. The order is being awaited with bated breath by the films cast and crew as well as millions of Kamal Haasan fans worldwide. The judge had asked Mr. Haasan to settle amicably by editing almost an hour of the film.
The Tamil Nadu Government banned the film, which is directed by Mr. Kamal Haasan, following protests from Muslim groups. Mr. Haasan, who is also the lead actor of the film, has branded the move as cultural terrorism.
The ban has come under major criticism especially since the film was passed by the Censor Board. According to Ms. Leela Samson, Chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification, Even if there is any discrimination or any such against a community we are here to raise our voice even before the state government. Once we certify, I think the public should be allowed to watch the movie.
