Flight services to 4 cities (Thanjavur, Vellore) before the end of the year

The secretary of the Airports Authority of India, R. N. Chowbey informed that flight services to 4 cities in Tamil Nadu � Hosur, Thanjavur, Neyveli, and Vellore � will commence before the end of this year.
A new, �walkalator� facility, has been set up for the flight passengers to reach the domestic and international airport terminals from the Chennai Metro Airport Railway Station to save time and expense. The walkalator has been set up at a cost of Rs. 40 Crores and keeps moving at high speed.
The walkalator covers a distance of 600 metres and most of the project activities have been completed. Presently, the work is progressing on setting up the 200 metres walkalator linking the Chennai Metro Airport railway Station to the International Airport Terminal.
As the walkalator between the Chennai Metro Airport Station linking with domestic airport terminal is ready, the inaugural function declaring it open for the public service was organized presided by the Director of the Airports Authority of India Chandramouli.
The walkalator was inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu State Government Chief Secretary, Girija Vaidyanathan. The secretary of the Airports Authority of India, R N Chowbey and other senior airport officials participated.
The officials informed that the walkalator will become fully functional in the next 10 days for the flight passengers.
R N Chowbey informed the press reporters that the walkalator has been set up to facilitate the passenger for the smooth and quick transport to reach the airport terminals at a cost of Rs. 40 Crores.
The Hosur Aiport will commence functioning before June. The flight for 3 more cities Thanjavur, Neyveli, and Vellore will coomece befire the end of the year.
If the state government of Tamil Nadu agrees to give the lands in Sripreumbudhur, full-fledged activities will be initiated to construct to build a modern airport there.
