From today on October 1 the State Election Commission started special summary revision of electoral rolls , Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Praveen Kumar.
Addressing a press conference, he said all those
whose names are yet to be included on the rolls and those who are reaching the
age of 18 before Jan 1, 2013 can apply for inclusion and voter identity card. He
said the publication of draft rolls, which would contain all names included in
the list till date, would be done on October 1. All those who wish to file
claims and objections to the rolls, and those who wish to be included in it,
could do so before October 31.
On October 6 and 9, all gram sabhas in rural
areas will undertake a reading of the relevant parts/photo electoral rolls.
While online facility would be available for applications, voters could also
approach booth-level officers, taluk offices and all other notified centres for
their inclusion or revision.
�On October 7, 14 and 21, (Sundays) a special
campaign would be undertaken where the booth-level officers would be present in
all designated polling stations through the day. People can approach them with
the forms and for any clarification regarding inclusion and deletion from the
electoral rolls,� he said. This apart, he said voters could call 1950 during
working hours to clarify any doubts they have regarding the process.
