Republic Day - Traffic diversion in Chennai

Greater Chennai Police has been diverting vehicles at various points in and around Kamarajar Salai since 23.01.2017 morning to maintain Law & Order. All these diversions are being normalized on 26.01.2017 morning in view of Republic Day celebrations at Gandhi Statue on Kamarajar Salai. However, the diversions which have been done in the previous years for the Republic Day celebrations will be effected on 26.01.2017 also. The diversions for Republic Day celebrations on 26.01.2017 will be as follows:
1) The stretch of Kamarajar Salai from Light House upto War Memorial will be closed for all the vehicular traffic from 6.00 A.M. to 10.00 A.M.
2) The commercial vehicles coming from Adyar intend to proceed towards Broadway on Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Greenways Point towards R.K. Mutt Road, V.K. Iyer Road, Devanathan Street, St. Mary�s Road, R.K. Mutt Road, Luz Junction, Luz Church Road, Karpagambal Nagar, Sivasamy Salai, Royapettah High Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Smith Road, Anna Salai to reach Broadway.
3) The other vehicles including MTC Buses coming from Adyar intend to proceed towards Broadway on Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Santhome High Road and Kutchery Road Junction towards Kutchery Road. The vehicles would take Kutchery Road, Luz Junction, Luz Church Road, Karpagambal Nagar, Sivasamy Salai, Royapettah High Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Smith Road, Anna Salai to reach Broadway.
4) The MTC Bus (Route No. 27-D) coming on Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai and proceeding towards Gandhi Statue would be diverted at Dr. R.K. Salai and V.M. Street Junction and the vehicles will proceed via Royapettah High Road, Luz Junction, R.K. Mutt Road, Mandaveli Junction, South Canal Bank Road, Srinivasapuram and reach Foreshore Estate.
5) MTC Bus Route No. 21-G coming from Luz Junction intend to proceed towards Gandhi Statue will be diverted via Nilgiris Junction- Music Academy, Govt. Royapettah Hospital, Roypettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Smith Road, Anna Salai and to reach Broadway.
6) MTC Bus Route No. 12-G & 45-B coming from Luz Junction intend to proceed towards Gandhi Statue will be diverted via Nilgiris Junction- left � Music Academy- Govt. Royapettah Hospital, Roypettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Anna Salai, Wallajah Road and reach Anna Square.
7) No vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr. R.K. Salai and Dr. Natesan Road Junction towards Gandhi Statue. The vehicles would be diverted towards Dr. Natesan Road.
8) No Vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr. Natesan Road and Avvai Shanmugam Salai Junction towards Kamarajar Salai. These vehicles would be diverted towards Ice House Junction.
9) No Vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr. Besant Road and Kamarajar Salai Junction towards Kamarajar Salai. These vehicles would be diverted at Dr. Besant Road Roundtana towards Ice House Junction.
10) No Vehicle will be allowed beyond Bhaharathi Salai and Bells Road Junction towards Kamarajar Salai. The vehicles would be diverted towards Bells Road.
11) No Vehicle will be allowed beyond Wallajah Road and Bells Road Junction (except MTC Buses) towards Kamarajar Salai. The vehicles would be diverted towards Bells Road. MTC Buses will be allowed upto Canal Bank Road Junction.
12) The Anna Square Bus Terminus will be temporarily shifted to Wallajah Road near Government Guest House.
13) The vehicles coming from Parry�s Corner intend to proceed towards Adyar will be diverted at RBI Sub-way (North) towards Raja Annamalai Mandram. The vehicles would use Muthusamy Point, Wallajah Point, Anna Salai, Anna Statue, General Patters Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Anna Salai, American Consulate Service Road, Cathedral Road, Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Dr.Natesan Road, Karaneeswarar Pakoda Street, Santhome High Road to reach Adyar.
14) No vehicle will be allowed from Wallajah Point towards War Memorial.
