Pongal bonus for government staff

Tamil Nadu government announced bonus ranging between Rs 500 to Rs 3,000 for its employees and pensioners to be disbursed on the occasion of the Pongal festival.
Employees in �C� and �D� groups will get a bonus equal to 30 days salary with an upper limit of `3,000.
Those under categories �A� and �B� will get a special bonus of `1,000.
Pensioners, family pensioners, former village-level officials like Thalayaris and Karnams will get `500 as Pongal gift.
A special bonus of `1,000 will be given to employees under various categories, including full and part-time workers who had worked for a minimum of 240 days in the financial year, anganwadi and mini anganwadi workers, village and panchayat assistants, workers for people�s welfare, contract workers and temporary assistants under contract.
The bonus will cost the state exchequer Rs 264 crore , an official release said.
