The advance reservation period for booking railway tickets under the Tatkal scheme has been reduced from two days to one day, excluding the day of journey from the train originating day. This will come into effect from Today.
The tatkal tickets shall be issued only on production of any one of the eight prescribed proofs of identity, including the photo identity of any one passenger. Details of the identity proof will be captured by the system and indicated on the reserved tickets as well as on the reservation chart.
* No refund on cancellation of confirmed tatkal tickets, except on cancellation of train or late trains as per rule
* No duplicate tatkal tickets shall be issued, except in exceptional cases, on payment of full fare including tatkal charges
* Tatkal tickets shall be issued only on production of one of eight prescribed identity proof
* IRCTC agents will be permitted to book only one tatkal ticket per train per day on the internet between 8am and 10am
* If passenger whose identity has been indicated on tatkal ticket does not travel, other passengers booked on same tatkal ticket will be treated as without ticket
