A New levy to be imposed on domestic flights: flight fares to go up

In order to provide for the project to linking all important parts of the country by air, the department of domestic aviation has decided to impose a new Excise Tax for all domestic flight services.
As per the announcement released by the department of domestic aviation, an excise tax of Rs. 7500/- will be levied for all domestic flights of 1000 km or less.
For the domestic flights covering distances from 1000 km to 1500 km, the levy will be Rs. 8500/-.
As a consequence this new levy, it is expected that the domestic flight fares will go up.
