Facilitating the customers needs to get their old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the Reserve Bank of India has made all banks across the country functional on Saturday and Sunday (tomorrow and day after tomorrow). The holiday for Gurunanak Jayanthi that falls on Monday is also cancelled.
Amidst these, the RBI has made a new announcement yesterday evening. According to this, to aid the public in getting their rupee notes exchanged, all banks are ordered to be functional until 8 pm. With this, the public can get all their Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes exchanged at all bank branches until 8pm and get new notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2000.
Abiding by this announcement, all private and government banks are functional until 8pm.
