Polling for the first phase of the civic polls in Tamilnadu started across the State today morning on a peaceful note. Voters in some parts of Chennai alleged that their names were missing in the electoral list, following which they were unable to exercise their franchise.
Reports said the polling was delayed in some of the booths due to late installation of web cameras as per the High Court order.
48 per cent of votes were polled in Chennai.A total of around 80,000 police personnel have been posted for security with more than 10,000 engaged in Chennai.
