14 lakhs people have applied for inclusion in the electoral rolls

Special camps were held for inclusion, deletion and modification in the electoral rolls. 14 lakh people have submitted applications for the inclusion of the names in the electoral rolls.
 
Indian Election Commission is holding special camps for inclusion, deletion and modification in the electoral roll throughout the country. Based on this, the work in Tamil Nadu has also being carried out. Usually this work commences on 15th September but this time this work commenced on 1st September. On 1st September the draft electoral rolls was released throughout Tamil Nadu. There were 5.81 Crore voters in these rolls.
 
In continuation with this special camp for inclusion, deletion and modification in the electoral roll was announced. Accordingly special camps were organized on 11th and 25th September.
 
In the first phase camp which was held on 11th September, 5, 77,675 people have applied for the inclusion of their names. 19852 people had applied for deletion and 86988 had applied for the correction of their names while 45577 had applied for change of address. On a single day 7, 30,000 have applied on the EC website.
 
The second phase of the camp was held on 25th September. 8, 18,413 people had applied for inclusion of names. 33255 people had applied for deletion of names and 1, 32,675 had applied for correction. 81,134 had applied for change of address. 2 NRIs have applied for inclusion of their names. On the whole 10, 65,475 had applied on this day. Apart from these 11 lakhs applications were received on the EC website and office.
