Nationwide strike today

Since the 12 demands of the trade unions have not been fulfilled by the Government, The trade unions have called a nationwide strike today.

The trade unions are exercised over the fact that the government wants to hike minimum wages for unskilled workers by 20 per cent to Rs 12,000 per month for Tier-I cities. They say the hike has to be much more substantial as inflation is high. They want a minimum wage of 18,000 per month plus pension of Rs 3,000.
 
Because of this strike, normal lives in many parts of the countries have been affected. In places like Delhi and West Bengal buses and autos are not running. Only limited buses with security are being operated. Banking services have also been affected, Government offices have been closed. Buses to Kerala and Karnataka states have been stopped at Tamil Nadu borders.
 
Buses are being operated in Tamil Nadu. 1 lakh police men have been deployed for security persons. Police security has been given to central and state government offices in Tamil Nadu. All the trade unions except Anna Trade Unions has been indulged in this Bharath bandh.
