Chennai Smart City Ltd (CSCL) formed

Because of the efforts of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Chennai Corporation was chosen for the smart city by Central Government. Chennai Smart City Ltd (CSCL) was formed under the Companies Act, 2013. Chennai Smart City Ltd (CSCL)�s office is housed in Amma Maaligai at Ripon Buildings. It will be promoted jointly by the state government and the corporation, both having 50:50 equity share holding.
As a part of the smart city proposal, T. Nagar has been selected for area-based proposal with components such as electrical network, water supply, sewerage, storm water drainage, solid waste management, IT connectivity and digitization, sanitation, pedestrian-friendly pathways, non-motorised transport, intelligent traffic management systems and retrofitting of green open spaces.
The smart city solution will be implemented from the financial year 2015-2016 to 2019-2020.
