UK to start driverless car testing in 2017

The British government has said that trial for driverless cars on the motorways will begin in 2017. The country aims at allowing autonomous cars on the roads by 2020.
Speaking about this, the British Finance Minister said, (We) will announce plans on Wednesday to test vehicles on motorways and will bring forward proposals to remove regulatory barriers to the technology. Naturally we need to ensure safety, and that`s what the trials we are introducing will test. If successful, we could see driverless cars available for sale and on Britain`s roads, boosting UK jobs and productivity.
The global autonomous driving market is worth 900 billion pounds or $1.20 trillion. However, legal obstacles such as who would be responsible in case of an accident need to be overcome. The Department of Transport has said that the testing will include a person present in the car to be able to take control if the need should arise.
